[Insert School Name] Students Forecast the Weather in Virtual Mission

Students from [Insert School Name] had the opportunity to predict the weather when [Insert Teacher’s Name]’s class used videoconferencing to connect with the Challenger Learning Center at Wheeling University.

The students participated in STORM-e, a weather-themed distance learning program. During the simulation, students became experts in air pressure, humidity, wind, and temperature. Working in teams, they studied maps, graphs, and charts to track weather conditions and advised “Weather Central” on their forecasts.

"It was exciting to see the students apply what they’ve been learning in science class to a real-world situation," said [Insert Teacher’s Name]"They worked together, thought critically, and truly felt like meteorologists for the day."

Students also shared their enthusiasm: “I liked learning how to use the weather maps to see where the storm was going,” said [Insert Student’s First Name], a [Insert Grade Level] grader.

The Challenger Learning Center offers a variety of interactive e-Missions®, designed to bring science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts to life through problem-solving, teamwork, and critical thinking.
