Evacuation Team List of Shelters (do not share until mission day)
Shelters
The following are possible evacuation sites:
- St. John’s, with a usual population of about 1000;
- Davy Hills with a population of about 500;
- Geralds with a population of 500;
- Salem with a population of 1000;
- Cork Hill has a usual population of just over 1000
- Bransby Point also has a population of about 1000
Hospitals and the Fire Dept. are both based in Plymouth
There are several buildings suitable or adaptable for shelter on the northern part of the island. They include:
- Pentecostal Church in St. John’s (capacity of about 200 people)
- Cavalla Methodist Church in St. John’s
- St. Augustine School in Salem (currently serving 40 students)
- Montserrat Secondary School at St. Johns
In addition to the above, there are also:
- Various rental villas (3-4 bedrooms) and apartments in Bransby Point,
- An 18 room hotel under construction in Little Bay Beach (on the western coast near Davy Hill),
- The Vue Pointe Hotel that consists of 20 small villas on Old Bay Road overlooking the ocean between Cork Hill and Old Towne,
- A supermarket in Davy Hill,
- A radio/TV transmission building near Geralds,
- A recording studio in Salem Condominiums on the western and higher elevation end of Cork Hill.
